Pretty In Pink

Pretty in Pink began in 2006 when a group of local women joined together to support a dear friend diagnosed with cancer by participating in the “Relay for Life” cancer walk. It is a 12 hour walk to raise money for cancer research. In 2007, the group reunited and did the walk again. They then realized that Chatham-Kent was in dire need of funding for their Oncology Department and so they started fundraising the summer of 2007 with Candy for Cancer. The response from the community was overwhelming.

In 2008, the women hosted their first annual chicken and dumpling dance with great success. Again they were overwhelmed with the support they received. Thanks to the community, they not only had a very successful evening but were also able to donate their first cheque, a sum of $10,000, to the CKHA Oncology Department on April 5, 2008. The ultimate goal was to help patients of the Oncology Department receive the treatments they need while staying closer to home. More recently, Pretty In Pink has been raising money for the Chatham-Kent Hospice through multiple events hosted each year.
